Blood of the Old Kings도 이제 5개월 안으로 나온다.

원고 편집과 교정이 완전히 끝나 내가 할 일은 없겠다 싶었는데, 그게 그렇지 않았다. 모르는 외국 시장에서 출간되는 것이다 보니, 전에 못 겪어 본 일들이 잔뜩 일어난다.

지도를 어떤 식으로 만들 것인가에 관해 의견을 내고, 그에 따라 본문에 구절을 추가했다. 처음 들어보는 사업 모델을 가진 회사가 관련 굿즈를 내는 것에 관해 작지만 재미있는 할 일이 생겼다. 출판사에서 오디오북 성우 오디션을 했다며 파일을 보내 거기에 관해서도 감상과 의견을 냈다. 그 어느 것도 내가 잘 아는 분야가 아닌데, 원작자가 되다 보니 자잘하게 결정할 일이 생긴다.

신선한 경험이다. 책이 나오고 나면 또 무엇을 하게 될지 궁금하다. 기대된다. 책이 나오고 두 달 남짓이면 50살이 된다. 이 나이에 이렇게 새로운 경험을 많이 할 수 있어서 기쁘다.

Blood of the Old Kings has less than five months until release.

With the editing complete, I had thought there was nothing more I needed to do, but man, was I wrong. Being published in an unfamiliar market meant I would be going through stuff that I had no inkling of.

I was invited to voice my opinion on the map they created, and it ended up with me adding a few lines to the main text. A company with a business model that was completely new to me wanted to create a kind of merchandise using my book, and that resulted in a simple but fun addition to my to-do list. The publisher sent me the audiobook audition samples, and I gave my ideas about that also. None of those are within my expertise, but being the original author I am presented with bits of decisions to make.

It’s a refreshing experience. I am curious as to what else I will be doing once the book comes out. I’m looking forward to whatever may happen. I will be turning fifty in two months after the release of the book. To experience so many new things at this age is a bliss.
